Recent research shows that diabetes affects 1 in 4 people in the workplace. This is an alarming statistic that is only set to rise as the diabetes epidemic continues to grow.
Diabetes NSW relies heavily on contributions from our generous supporters and Corporate Partners. Supporting our cause through workplace giving can have a huge impact helping to fund our vital education, prevention and management programs, awareness projects and support crucial research.
Regular giving provides Diabetes NSW with a stable supply of income which allows us to plan and implement a variety of programs that increase awareness of diabetes in the community and offers support to those who need it most.
By participating in workplace giving, you can truly make a positive difference to the lives of people living with and at risk of diabetes. In addition to this, studies show the positive impact that engaging in workplace giving can have on your organisation, helping with staff engagement, staff retention and improved productivity.
Diabetes affects 1 in 4 people in the workplace
The Australian Charities Fund and the Centre for Social Impact surveyed over 4,100 employees, and conducted 40 face to face interviews with Chief Executives and other senior personnel from a wide range of employers.
Their results found that 95% of respondents are keen to be involved in workplace giving. Their research showed that people who give are more engaged, more motivated and prouder of their employer.
Encourage your employees to realise the value of workplace giving and support this worthy cause. Employees can give financial contributions as part of their pre-tax payroll and give as little as $2 a month or as much as they can afford – enjoying tax benefits by giving in this way.
Enterprises can support further by matching employees’ contributions dollar for dollar or cap this if they wish.
Every day 290 people in Australia hear that they have diabetes. As the incidence and prevalence of diabetes continues to soar, not just in Australia but around the world, our work becomes ever more important. Through workplace giving you have the power to make a difference and to help us combat this epidemic and one day find a cure.
