Charles Perkins Centre fight chronic health threats

Sunday, 4 January 2015

The University of Sydney officially launched the Charles Perkins Centre for researchers, bringing together disciplines from across the campus to tackle the burden of some of the world’s greatest health challenges: obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and related conditions.
The $385 million centre also includes the Chair of Diabetes, Professor Charles Mackay – proudly sponsored by Australian Diabetes Council.

Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Dr Michael Spence described the facility as a “research and education hub, dedicated to bringing the best researchers and brightest minds together to find real solutions in the battle against diabetes, obesity and heart disease.”

Last week, the University capped off a month of campus-wide festivities for students, staff, friends and donors by hosting a series of launch events. Click on the image below to have a look at this exciting video which captures the community’s enthusiasm for the new facility.
