DiRECT-Aus GP Practices
Thank you for your interest in participating in DiRECT-Aus. As a GP practice participating in this study, you will have the opportunity to transform your patients’ health outcomes. You may be able to provide an alternative to standard care for patients living with type 2 diabetes.
How are the GP practices involved?
While the trial team will do as much as possible to reduce any burden on your practice resources, there are a few key areas where we will need your support:
- Recruit patients
- Answer patient questions
- Provide consult room for the study dietitian consultations
- Book patients in for trial-related consultations
Along the way, the trial team will be there to support you.
How do we support you?
If you sign on as a practice, your staff and GPs will be invited to attend a webinar, hosted by your Diabetes NSW & ACT and the University of Sydney. At this webinar, you will receive detailed trial information as well as logistical support for your staff and GPs.
As a practice taking part in DiRECT-Aus, we will supply you with all the study resources and collateral and we will answer any questions that you have. All questions can be directed to our helpline at 1300 234 736 or to firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you would like to access additional posters, info packs or brochures, you can download these via this website or you can request additional copies via 1300 or email@example.com.
Why get involved?
You will be a part of a study that has the potential to change the way that diabetes care is delivered in Australia. Your practice will be leading the way when it comes to providing treatment options for its patients living with type 2 diabetes. Your GPs will receive expert training and guidance from the research team with the University of Sydney on how to deliver a diabetes remission program.
Not only that, but you can change the health outcomes for your patients and reduce their long-term risk of diabetes complications. You have the potential to reduce the financial impact of diabetes on the health care system in your PHN.
