Diabetes in Schools

This one-day seminar aims to help designated staff who supervise or teach a student with type 1 diabetes gain the knowledge and confidence necessary to support students at school. The seminar is presented in a group environment by a Credentialled Diabetes Educator and participants will have the opportunity to take part in activities and have their questions and concerns addressed.
Topics covered during the day include:
• Diabetes 101
• Food and type 1 diabetes
• Monitoring glucose levels
• Hypoglycaemia – lowglucose levels
• Hyperglycaemia – highglucose levels
• Being active
• Camp planning
• Planning for change
*Please note that information presented on the day will be of a general nature and the CredentialledDiabetes Educator is unable to comment on the management and treatment of individual children.
Included: Morning tea & lunch will be provided. Participants will receive a certificate of completion and a resource handbook to take home on the day. Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, attendance numbers are strictly limited and bookings are essential.
