Diabetes in Schools

Do you have a child living with type 1 diabetes enrolled at your school? Diabetes NSW & ACT will be presenting a seminar in SUBURB on DATE for staff of primary and high schools and we would like to invite you to join us. 


This one-day seminar aims to help designated staff who supervise or teach a student with type 1 diabetes gain the knowledge and confidence necessary to support students at school. The seminar is presented in a group environment by a Credentialled Diabetes Educator and participants will have the opportunity to take part in activities and have their questions and concerns addressed.



Topics covered during the day include:

  • Diabetes 101
  • Food and type 1 diabetes
  • Monitoring glucose levels
  • Insulin
  • Hypoglycaemia – low glucose levels
  • Hyperglycaemia – high glucose levels
  • Being active
  •  Camp planning
  •  Planning for change

*Please note that information presented on the day will be of a general nature and the Credentialled Diabetes Educator is unable to comment on the management and treatment of individual children.
