About Pharmacy Access Points
When you become and NDSS Access Point you help people in your community who are living with diabetes. Here is some useful information about the important role Access Points play in supporting the health and wellbeing of our community.
What is an NDSS Access Point?
Community pharmacies play an important role in supporting the wellbeing of our community. They are a source of advice, information and products that help us maintain our health.
In NSW and the ACT most community pharmacies are also NDSS Access Points – which means they can help people living with diabetes better self-manage their condition through the provision of subsidised products, information and support.
There are currently 1770 Access Points in NSW and over 70 in the ACT.
How do I become an Access Point?
You must apply to become an NDSS Access Point by completing NDSS Pharmacy Access Point Application Form which can be downloaded here .
Before applying it’s a good idea to read NDSS Access Point Guidelines which can be downloaded here .
Once complete return your application to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Your application will be assessed by Diabetes NSW & ACT, the Commonwealth Government’s state and territory agent. Diabetes NSW & ACT will oversee your appointment as an NDSS Access Point and provide training and ongoing support.

Diabetes NSW & ACT provides a range of support services to NDSS Access Points. These include:
- Dedicated email address for enquiries: firstname.lastname@example.org
- Access Point Coordinators for training service and support
- Training: either face to face or via a remote service on NDSS processes for all Access Point Staff
- Onsite clean and check days
- NDSS Signage
- Information about diabetes products
