Public consultation on NDSS product subsidies

The National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS) provides subsidies on a range of products to help and support people living with diabetes. This includes subsidised syringes and needles, blood glucose test strips, urine test strips, insulin pump consumables and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) products.

To ensure the scheme continues to meet the needs of people living with diabetes the Department of Health is seeking input on additional types of products that could be considered for subsidisation under the scheme to support people to self-manage their condition.

All Australians living with diabetes or other members of the community who may be impacted by the condition including, families, carers, health professionals and supporters are encouraged to provide their views. The information collected will be used to inform future decision making in relation to the NDSS.

The Department is conducting the consultation process through an online survey which will be open for one month, closing on 25 August 2019. You can access the survey here.

This is an opportunity to share your views with the Department on products that could be considered for future subsidisation and we would encourage you to take the time to complete the survey.

In addition to the survey the Department is also seeking feedback from key organisations within the diabetes sector and Diabetes NSW & ACT will be making a submission on behalf of the diabetes community in NSW and the ACT.
