New resource for kids and teens with type 1

Wednesday, 16 March 2016

It can be very difficult for young people and their families to know where to go for accurate, credible information and resources. Diabetes NSW & ACT has launched a new website – because young people with type 1 diabetes stand ‘as 1’ to support each other and their community.

The new As 1 Diabetes website provides explanations, ideas, links and references to help young people living with diabetes and their friends and families to gain a better understanding of diabetes and how it influences their lives. We have sections for parents, carers, health professionals – even information for siblings to help you better understand what’s going on with your brother or sister.

We believe that with knowledge comes confidence, support and motivation. The website has interactive content for kids, information for teens and provides guidance for parents to better support their kids. We are also developing relevant content to include for teachers and schools.

Check out the site and let us know what you think or if you have any ideas!
